From GATE 2026 to Embedded Systems- One Month Update
After completing my graduation in 2025, I prepared for GATE with the dream of pursuing MTech. I appeared for GATE 2026, but things didn’t go as expected. I took a step back and reassessed. Then I started looking for a new direction. A friend suggested Embedkari, and that one recommendation changed everything. To anyone preparing for GATE or facing a similar uncertain phase — a setback is not the end. It can push you toward something you never considered before.
Over the past month at Embedkari, I got access to courses including Learn C from Scratch, Embedded C Essentials, Bare Metal Workshop, STM32 Workshop, 8051 Workshop, Digital Electronics, String Manipulation, C Assignments (Level 1 & 2), and a Firmware Workshop. I attended 12 live sessions. Topics covered included GPIO/LED, UART, PLL, debouncing and watchdog timers, Cortex-M0+ memory model, interrupts, state machines, I²C protocol and SPI internals. We also had C programming sessions on declaration and definition, memory layout, and Intel architecture with general-purpose registers. Each session on the previous one, making the learning curve manageable and structured.
In addition to the live classes, I attended an 8051-microcontroller hands-on session using the Nuvoton board, I also took part in Embedded C, debugging skills, string manipulation, and Naukri workshops. Our mentor introduced us to STM32 board comparisons, Nvidia Jetson Nano, BeagleBone Black, virtual addressing and much more at Embedkari Evening Technology Event. Interview preparation questions were also covered throughout the programme. These workshops gave me practical exposure that goes beyond just theory.
Every session added a new layer of understanding. I am still learning, still growing and genuinely excited about what comes next.
Sometimes the universe has a different plan. The best thing you can do is keep moving forward.
Great to see you gaining from Sir’s experience and teaching. I would like to add points from my experience so far, hope that will be useful for you in your journey:
1. Academics: GATE can give you an opportunity to learn from the premium quality educational nexus. One may question that whether they’ll land a job they want from the campus placements or thereafter, with the knowledge they procured. It may not be true always, as it depends on the current market demands and where you can invest your knowledge to fill in the demands. If you’re not in favour of this, skip GATE forever. But, you’ll miss out the opportunity: the knowledge treasure. But what use of that treasure to be the “treasure”??
2. Corporate: The best place to learn and grow in a pipelined fashion. From day one, you get exposed to professionalism and self-management practices. The organisation will keep throwing problems at you, leaving you the opportunity to learn how to juggle by doing the juggling. Corporate is the best place to reward you for your hard work that is aligned with the business goals. But, to rethink, is that what you desired? How to know what you desire? How to know what all you can do, you can initiate, you can bring to the table when there’s nothing of that sort? The “treasure” from point 1 can give you that guide, completely devoted to you, to guide you.
Last but not the least, it’s because of Sanjay Sir’s motivation, encouragement, his “C practice -daily” morning sessions, conducted by his alumni (it’s his alumni, he earned it), are the reasons I’ve reached the destination. That jetpack what I was lacking. But, how did I know I need to search for Sanjay Adhikari? Why did I search for him? Was it my erstwhile job requirements? Or… “the treasure”?? I’ll leave it as an open question for you to identify the answer, as you move forward in your engineering life. All the best!
