What is the purpose of internship ?
Internship should be treated as a learning opportunity which will eventually help in getting a good job.
1: Earning should not be a target for an internship. It may deviate you from your main target career.
2: One should not do any internship just for formality or certificate.
3: Internship should be relevant to target career or to explore career opportunities.
4: Many students use their contacts to get internships in well known organisations without giving preference to the type of work. Jugad is not useful everywhere.
If someone joins such an internship, s/he should try to learn other skills online in parallel.
5: One has to work proactively to identify the right Internship.
6: If you are targeting a particular domain for an internship, then you have to do some preparation in advance.
Embedkari provided internships to many students from well known engineering colleges including NIT in the past but we provide virtual internships only unless the student has the potential to do something useful.
Let me provide you with a few examples based on the duration of the internship.
We have the option of Fee based training cum internship as well . We have various short term courses to try during internship period. It includes C, C++, Python, 8051, STM32, VCS, UI etc. based projects . We also provide marketing & HR internship.
1: One month : One can utilise this short period to learn some skill aligned with his/her domain.For example : Linux basics within windows system.
In the embedded domain, it is sufficient to learn C with some projects. If someone is already aware of C, S/he can do any 8-bit MCU based project. Hardware is not necessary at this level. Exposure to software tools is sufficient.
2: Two months : Two months is sufficient to do some small project under the guidance of a senior person.
If you hate coding, you must try firmware level coding provided you are from XXE background. You may try C at least.
This is sufficient to learn Embedded C along with the STM32 based board. One can try a simple keypad and a UART based project . One can learn STM32CUBEIDE and HAL concepts.
3: Three months : Try to get an internship in any start-up company. One can learn register level programming i.e. firmware along with a project. This is sufficient to get some exposure to IoT as well..
4: Six Months : Try to get an internship in any medium size company . Master students can get opportunities in MNC as well.
5: One year : Try to get an internship in
MNC. They may provide you training as well and it can be converted to a job later.
